The Catholic Education Foundation of Ottawa (CEFO) is committed to supporting students of the Ottawa Catholic School Board and families, who are living in economically disadvantaged circumstances. To help this cause, CEFO puts on Board-Wide Broadway Benefit Musicals. All proceeds are directed to the Helping to Alleviate Poverty in Our Schools campaign.

Does the mention of the 1950s stir memories of hula-hoops and American Bandstand? Do Go-Go boots, Motown tunes and love beads take you back to the 1960s? Then Roger Bean’s award-winning musical comedy The Marvelous Wonderettes is guaranteed to have you step back in time to the days of crinolines, cat eyeglasses and sock hops. The Marvelous Wonderettes is a tribute to the girl-group sound of the ‘50s and ‘60s, featuring iconic songs that range from comic to poignant, including such classics as Mr. Sandman, Stupid Cupid, It’s in His Kiss, Leader of the Pack and Rescue me.

CEFO is proud to announce that the 2016 Spring production of The Marvelous Wonderettes, an off-Broadway smash hit musical, was a great success. This highly entertaining show, set in the 1950s and '60s, featured a tight ensemble cast and iconic songs from the era. The production featured local professional adult actresses. All proceeds from the show were donated to CEFO to help counter the effects of poverty on students within the Ottawa Catholic School Board.

The Marvelous Wonderettes ran at the Gladstone Theatre from May 11th to 14th, 2016. Showtimes were Wednesday to Saturday at 7:30 pm with an extra Saturday matinee at 2:30 pm.
